Walk to School Week 7th to 11th November

We are taking part in Walk to School week. We would like to encourage students, where possible, to walk to school. There are so many benefits to the health of the children not to mention easing the congestion in Chapel Square and the spring in your step! Our KS1 children will have an activity book to complete during the week and the Year 6 Junior Road Safety Officers’s (JRSO’s) will be on hand at the school gates to give out stickers to those who have walked to school. Please encourage your children to be observant on their way to school and remind them to hand in their booklet on Friday so they can be entered into the lucky dip.

For those that do have to drive in the mornings please consider parking at the tennis courts or further down High Street North or South and walking the last bit to school. Please note that due to refurbishment works at the Recreation Ground Pavilion, car parking is severely restricted for the foreseeable future. Please avoid driving your child to the school gates and dropping them off on the yellow lines. This creates an unnecessary hazard.

At this time of year, as the days get shorter it is more important than ever that our children are safe on their way to school. Please talk to your children about road safety on your way to school next week and ask them to remind you of their Footsteps training provided by our volunteers.

Looking forward to seeing you on the pavements!
