St Michael's School
Eco-Council
Our School Eco-Council representatives for 2021-22 are:
Owen and Carys in Year 1
Luisa and Monty in Year 2
Jack and Sophie in Year 3
Aisha and William in Year 4
Seth and Grace in Year 5
Jonah and Sofia in Year 6
Our aim is to look after the planet.
We have a recycling system at our school. This includes turning off lights and computers when we are not using them, recycling plastic, paper and batteries and making compost from fruit peelings.
We have animal friendly grounds and can see foxes, badgers, rabbits, pheasants and other birds.
During the year we have a ‘Switch off fortnight’ to remind people to save electricity.
We also monitor our solar panel display to see how much electricity our 54 solar panels are producing.
The Travel Plan team encourage children to bike to school and the Friends Association ask parents to recycle clothes through the ‘Bags 2 school’ scheme.
We are always thinking of new ways to encourage children to ‘reduce, re-use, recycle’.
If you have any other eco-friendly ideas, please get in touch with one of your eco-reps!
